Despite being largely a virtual community, with members distributed throughout the United Kingdom, German-speaking countries and even the USA and Australia, ITI German Network does occasionally hold events and get togethers to allow some ‘face time’.

Einführung in das deutsche Recht
14th May 2016, Birmingham
This day seminar is aimed at anyone translating from German and presents the practical issues facing non-specialists and specialists alike.
Many of us will have entered agreements of one kind or another with our German customers. Even if we work in an area other than law, we may often have to translate privacy statements, T&Cs or confidentiality agreements and the "Impressum" on German websites.
Heike Simon has a wealth of experience in this area. She is a translator and interpreter, a practising lawyer, she teaches German law and legal translation at Lille University and also publishes in the field.
The presentation will itself be in German but questions and discussions will be in both languages!
Registration will be from 9.30 and we will start at 10. The workshop is expected to end around 5 pm but you might want to allow time for some socialising before we all head for home. We will be within walking distance of New St. and Moor St. stations.
Open to ITI and CIOL members. Contact us for details.
